You can develop mining models with DMX language, and use ADOMD.NET, or use
AMO objects directly from your .NET application. However, you need Analysis
Services - you deploy & process DM models in Analysis Services. Therefore,
you need at least Standard Edition of SQL Server 2005. Check features
    supported by editions at
    http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143761.aspx.

  3. A few more options besides those already enumerated by Dejan:
    - use the Data mining add-ins for Office 2007
    - use the OLE DB provider for Analysis Services from a machine where this
provider is installed (same DMX language)
These also require a server available (locally or on the network) and
Analysis Services is not included with SQL Server Express
